This notice applies to our website, app and all services we provide.

When we say ‘personal data’ we mean identifiable information about you, like your name, email address, health conditions, symptoms and so on. If you cannot be personally identified (for example, when personal data has been anonymised and/or aggregated) then this notice doesn’t apply.

Check out our Platform Terms for more information on how we treat your other data.

This notice may be amended or updated from time to time and revised versions will be shown on our website. It is your responsibility to check for the most recent version of this notice.

Who are ‘we’?

When we refer to ‘we’ or ‘Lori’, that means LORI HEALTH LTD.

We provide a community space for individuals to share and explore diet and lifestyle approaches to managing autoimmune conditions.

The data we collect about you

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you that we have grouped together as follows:

  • Contact Data includes email address.

  • Financial Data includes bank details

  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.

  • Profile Data includes your username and password, your preferences, feedback and survey responses.

  • Usage Data includes information about how you use our website, products and services.

  • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences.

  • Health Data includes your condition, year of diagnosis, main symptoms and your approach to managing these.

We also collect, use and share Anonymised and/or Aggregated Data (such as statistical or demographic data) for various purposes. Aggregated and/or Anonymised Data could be derived from your personal data, but is not considered personal data in law, as this data will not directly or indirectly reveal your identity.

How we collect your data

How we collect personal data can be generally classified as follows:

  • Information you provide to us directly: when signing up to use our services we will ask you to provide personal data regarding your identity, your contact details and your health.

  • Information we collect automatically: we sometimes collect certain information about you automatically when visiting our website or using our services. As an example, we may need to collect your IP address and device type (desktop, mobile and so on). We also collect information when you navigate through our website and services, including what pages you looked at and what links you clicked on. This information is useful for us as it helps us get a better understanding of how users are utilising our website and services so that we can continue to provide the best experience possible (e.g., by personalising the content you see). Some of this information will be collected via cookies or similar tracking technologies. More information regarding the types of cookies we use, why, and how you can control them is available upon request.

  • Information we get from third parties: most of the information we collect should be obtained directly from you. Occasionally we will need to collect personal data about you from other sources beyond our own website and services, such as publicly available materials or via trusted third parties. Any information gathered from these sources is simply to supplement the personal data we already hold about you, in order to better inform, personalise and improve our services.

    • We integrate with Google services, such as Google Sign-In, to provide seamless login functionality. When you connect your account, we may collect information such as your Google profile name, email address, and other data authorised by you. For more information about how Google processes your data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

Where your personal data is not collected, there is a risk that we may not be able to provide to you some or all of our services; this includes – but is not limited to – certain functionality in our systems or website features being unavailable.

Lawful basis for processing

Where your personal data is collected, this will only be processed:

  • Contractual obligation - Where processing is necessary to comply with our obligations arising out of a contract, for example, taking payment (where applicable).

  • Legitimate Interest – Where we use legitimate interests, we will record our decision on making this decision. We rely on legitimate interest where processing of the data we hold on you does not, in our opinion, affect your rights or freedoms and is proportionate to our interests e.g. obtaining your feedback on our service.

  • Consent – We will seek to obtain your consent to process your personal data outside our contractual obligations (see above) unless we have identified a Legitimate Interest (see above). In order to process Health Data we will first obtain your explicit consent.

How your data may be used

We may use your personal data to operate our website and any other services you have requested; this includes our ability to manage the relationship with you. We also use your personal data for other purposes, which may include the following:

  • Enhancing the experience of other users: we share information you have provided about the management of your condition with other users of our website for them to view and rate;

  • Communicating with you: we share information you have requested from us, operating notifications (e.g. security alerts), marketing communications you have signed up to receive and so on;

  • Supporting you: we provide assistance with support queries and technical issue resolution (both with our website and services);

  • Improving our website and services: we track usage to optimise the experience;

  • Protecting you: we ensure data integrity and no malicious activity.

How your data may be shared

There may be occasions where we need to share your personal data with third parties. We will only disclose your personal data to:

  • Third party service providers and/or partners that assist and enable Lori to process the personal data and provide our services – for example, payment providers, software providers that help us build and manage the Platform.

  • Regulators, law enforcement bodies, government agencies, courts or other third parties where we think it might be necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulations, or to exercise, establish or defend our legal rights. Where possible and appropriate, we will notify you of this type of disclosure.

  • Other people or entities where we have your prior consent.

We may also share personal data with third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer or merge parts of our business or assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal data in the same way as set out in this privacy notice.

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

Data transfer (outside your country of residence)

When your data gets shared, this may be distributed to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you reside. For example, payment processing by a third-party software provider or software providers we use to help us build and manage the Platform.

Where personal data needs to be distributed to a third-party outside of your country of residence, we have in place safeguards (e.g. encryption) to ensure this data remains protected.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA), for the avoidance of doubt, the above means that from time-to-time, data may be distributed to a country outside of the UK or the EEA. However, measures have been taken to identify – in advance of any such distribution of your data – to ensure that those non-UK and EEA countries have sufficient protection in place. Where third parties are involved, appropriate additional steps have been taken to preserve the integrity of your personal data, i.e. by entering into Standard Contractual Clauses with these companies.

Data security

We are committed to protecting the security of your personal data. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Encryption: Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest where appropriate.

  • Access Controls: Access to your personal data is restricted to authorized personnel who have a legitimate need to know it.

  • Regular Monitoring: We monitor our systems for potential vulnerabilities and conduct regular security assessments to reduce risks.

  • Secure Storage: Your personal data is stored in secure facilities with robust physical and digital security measures.

Despite our efforts, no method of data transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

Retention policy

By law we have to keep basic information about our users for six years after they cease being users.

Otherwise, we will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal or regulatory requirements.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal, regulatory or other requirements.

In some circumstances you can ask us to delete your data: see your legal rights below for further information.

Know your rights

When it comes to marketing communications, you can ask us not to send you these at any time – just follow the opt-out link included in all marketing communications from us, or send us a request separately to unsubscribe.

You have further rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data (though please note that your rights may be limited under certain circumstances). For example, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data (commonly known as a "data subject access request"). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.

  • Request correction of the personal data that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.

  • Request erasure of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to delete personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete your personal data where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), where we may have processed your information unlawfully or where we are required to erase your personal data to comply with local law. Note, however, that we may not always be able to comply with your request of erasure for specific legal reasons, which will be notified to you, if applicable, at the time of your request.

  • Object to processing of your personal data where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground as you feel it impacts on your fundamental rights and freedoms. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal data for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, we may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your information which override your rights and freedoms.

  • Request restriction of processing of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of your personal data in the following scenarios:

  • If you want us to establish the data's accuracy.

  • Where our use of the data is unlawful, but you do not want us to erase it.

  • Where you need us to hold the data even if we no longer require it, as you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

  • You have objected to our use of your data, but we need to verify whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to use it.

  • Request the transfer of your personal data to you or to a third party. We will provide to you, or a third party you have chosen, your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Note that this right only applies to automated information which you initially provided consent for us to use, or where we used the information to perform a contract with you.

  • Withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.

If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please contact us using the details provided in this notice.

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we could refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.

We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it could take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
